“The diversity of projects coupled with the team culture is what makes Base a unique, fun and enjoyable workplace.”
Claire grew up on acreage surrounded by nature and where stints of boredom necessitated imagination and creativity. Enjoying the challenges of making things by hand was the precursor to an early interest in architecture. This energy and enthusiasm is what resonates the most with her peers, and she’s known for being willing to give absolutely anything a crack.
Joining the Base team in 2016, Claire is excited and motivated to support the architects and associates in her role working alongside them to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.
Prior to working at Base Claire’s key projects have included a beach resort in Byron Bay and a medical centre in Northern Queensland. She loves getting involved in projects from their outset; from the sketch design phase through to seeing the ideas come to fruition.
Studying her Masters of Architecture at UQ, Claire developed an interest in post-war Queensland architecture. She continues to research Queensland’s often neglected architectural history so as to sensitively respond to Brisbane’s complex cultural and environmental challenges.
Traveling to a remote part of Japan and staying at a Buddhist community was very affecting on Claire’s view of architecture, particularly how the buildings complemented the lifestyle so perfectly, and even acted to promote greater mindfulness and community values.
Outside of her day job, Claire is a freelance artist and model maker.
